Most people ask if it works faster. Dysport® is a purified botulinum toxin type A, abobotulinumtoxinA, from Ipsen and Galderma. Its cosmetic FDA approval covers one area: moderate to severe glabellar lines between the brows, in adults under 65. It is separately approved for two indications that are medical rather than aesthetic — cervical dystonia, a neck condition in which the muscles pull the head into a sustained abnormal position, and limb spasticity, the muscle stiffness that can follow a stroke or a brain or spinal injury.
What changes is how hard your frown muscle pulls. It blocks acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, so the muscle contracts less. Approved for the frown lines between the brows and no other cosmetic area, and reported to spread a little wider from each injection point — which is why a broad forehead often brings people to it. Dilution and depth influence spread more than product. Near the brow, fewer units sit further from the orbital rim.
