No. Jawline filler adds structure at the bone; submental fat sits below the border. Sharpening the edge above a full submental area can make the fullness more obvious. Where submental fat dominates, it is treated first.
Yes, and that is the part of this decision that is not final. Hyaluronic acid filler, including Juvéderm® Volux® XC, can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, usually at a separate appointment within a few days of asking. Worth knowing before you lean on it: dissolving cosmetic filler is an off-label use of hyaluronidase, it is neither free nor instant, and hyaluronidase carries its own small risk of allergic reaction. Not every material used along the jaw shares that.
Swelling peaks in the first 48 hours and most resolves by two weeks. Bruising lasts 3 to 7 days, low on the jaw and easy to cover. Firmness along the border for one to two weeks is expected.
Usually yes. What you have already had changes the plan, not the welcome. Product in the chin or midface changes what the jaw needs. Filler placed in the past two weeks is injected around; swelling makes assessment unreliable.
Swelling, bruising, tenderness and temporary firmness are the common effects, and they resolve on their own. Lumps and asymmetry are usually correctable, and delayed inflammatory nodules are uncommon but can appear months later, sometimes after an illness or a vaccination, which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has described in a safety communication on delayed swelling following hyaluronic acid filler. The serious risk is vascular occlusion: filler enters or compresses a blood vessel and cuts off the blood supply to the skin that vessel feeds. Losing that blood supply can cause skin necrosis or, very rarely, vision loss. The FDA has issued a separate safety communication on unintentional injection into a blood vessel with dermal fillers.
