Wrinkle relaxers are injections of purified botulinum toxin type A that quiet a muscle so the skin above creases less. Botox®, Dysport® and Jeuveau® share that mechanism and differ in onset and approved area: 2 to 3 days for Dysport® and Jeuveau®, 3 to 7 for Botox®. Most patients get 3 to 4 months.

Botulinum toxin type A blocks acetylcholine, the nerve's signal to contract, at the neuromuscular junction. Botox®, Dysport® and Jeuveau® share that mechanism and differ in onset, spread and approved area, and most patients get 3 to 4 months. Movement returns as nerve terminals grow new connections. Nothing builds up inside you.

Nothing in this table is a ranking. These three products behave differently rather than one outperforming another, and the column that usually decides between them is approved area or onset. Ranges are drawn from current U.S. product labeling and from what is observed in practice.
Botox® (onabotulinumtoxinA) — FDA-approved cosmetically for all three upper-face areas plus moderate to severe platysma prominence in adults, with the forehead indication labeled for treatment alongside the glabella at the same visit. Onset usually 3 to 7 days. Spread from each injection point is more localized, which matters most near a low or heavy brow, where a wider field can reach the muscle that holds the brow up.
Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA) — FDA-approved cosmetically for the glabellar lines only; forehead and crow's feet use is off-label. Onset usually 2 to 3 days. Units are not equivalent to Botox® units, so the figure that compares across products is the treatment total rather than the unit price. It contains cow's milk protein and is not used in patients allergic to it.
Jeuveau® (prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs) — FDA-approved for the glabellar lines only, and approved for cosmetic use exclusively. Onset usually 2 to 3 days. Spread from each injection point behaves much as Botox® does.
Mostly, this part is you pulling faces. The provider marks the muscles making your lines.
Nothing is drawn up until the plan is written. Product, dilution and units follow your anatomy. Any off-label area is named at this point, as part of consent, so you know what is going where and under what approval.
The part people brace for is the shortest. The pinches take a couple of minutes.

The appointment runs 10 to 20 minutes, and most areas need no numbing. Each point is a small pinch. Headache the same evening was reported by about 1 in 10 patients in the trials behind the labeling, and it settles on its own.
Dysport® and Jeuveau® start within 2 to 3 days, Botox® in 3 to 7. Whatever you decide here undoes itself in 3 to 4 months.
The differences are practical, not chemical. All three are botulinum toxin type A with the same mechanism. Approved area is the largest difference: Botox® covers the glabella, crow's feet and forehead, while Dysport® and Jeuveau® are approved for the glabella only. Dysport® and Jeuveau® start in 2 to 3 days, Botox® in 3 to 7, and Dysport® spreads wider from each point.
The area decides more than the brand. A broad forehead can suit Dysport®, covering ground from fewer points. A low brow suits a tighter field, smaller dose. A product already giving 3 to 4 months is worth keeping.
The muscle decides the number, not your age. FDA labeling for Botox® Cosmetic describes 20 units for the glabellar frown lines, 24 units for the lateral canthal lines, and 20 units for the forehead given together with 20 units in the glabella at the same visit. A strong muscle takes more than a weak one. First treatments start below those figures, so units can be added at the review. Units are not interchangeable between products.

Most patients notice softening in 2 to 7 days, with full effect around day 14. Jeuveau® and Dysport® declare themselves earlier than Botox®. Photographs and the review sit at two weeks. A day-5 face is still changing.
Most patients get 3 to 4 months, and a first treatment runs shorter. Botox® for severe underarm sweating is the exception, with a median of about 6 to 7 months in label trials. The fade is gradual.
Frozen is a dosing outcome, not a property of the product. It comes from treating a whole muscle at full dose in one pass. A first pass below the label dose keeps movement, with room to add.
No. Nothing reverses botulinum toxin the way hyaluronidase dissolves hyaluronic acid filler, so the effect ends by wearing off over 3 to 4 months. That is why a first dose starts low: too little costs two weeks, too much runs the full course.
No. Masseter treatment for clenching, grinding or lower-face width is an off-label use of Botox®, Dysport® and Jeuveau®. Off-label means the FDA has not reviewed that particular indication: the use is legal, common in medicine, and supported by published studies, but it has not been through approval. The assessment turns on your bite and grinding history, since muscle bulk and painful clenching are not always the same finding.
Nothing bad happens. Function returns as nerve terminals regrow, usually over 3 to 4 months, and lines return to where untreated aging would have put them. What patients notice is the contrast, not a penalty for having started.
Botox®, Dysport® and Jeuveau® are prescription medicines and carry an FDA boxed warning: the effects of the toxin may spread from the injection site hours to weeks after treatment, and the resulting swallowing or breathing difficulty can be life-threatening. Seek emergency care for difficulty swallowing, speaking or breathing after treatment.
